Ewartsville was one of the many stops of the stagecoach run
between Colfax, WA and Lewiston, ID. The post office opened April 23, 1873 and
discontinued October 21, 1891. It was named for one of its earliest settlers, Captain
James Ewart, who came to that area in 1871.
